DHIIRA - LOWER ELEMENTARY MONTESSORI PROGRAM

The Lower Elementary  Montessori program is a very unique one, which caters not only to the academic development of the child, but also gives importance to the all-round development. This is not being used as a modern day buzz-word here. Rather the method understands the changes that the child who is moving towards the age of 6, is now undergoing in every aspect of their being … psychological, emotional, social, physical and intellectual. The ‘absorbent mind’ of the tiny tot in the first phase( 3-6 years ) has given way to a ‘reasoning mind’ of a young child. This child has an insatiable curiosity and a strong imagination and both of these help to move the child to question and try to understand even so called difficult ideas such as the mysteries of Nature, the effervescent life around him, the patterns in numbers and the genesis of Language. The early curriculum explores the World at large and through the understanding of the macrocosm they move to the microcosm.  

Traditionally, education has been thought of as information that is poured into the mind of the Child, which the child needs to recall to pass an Examination. The Elementary Program goes far beyond that. It helps the Child to develop a passion for everything that they see around them as well as a love for learning. It lights a fire in the Child and keeps it burning lifelong.

The Elementary program at Dhiira was set up in June 2021. It is a vibrant program Lower Elementary Program with a relatively small group of children . This helps the emerging personalities to be authentic to who they are and at the same time to understanding of others as well.

Eligibility : Children who are 6 + years and have completed the pre-primary Montessori program are eligible to apply. Nevertheless, parents who are eager to explore alternate learning style for their child who has not been to a Montessori are also welcome to visit and understand the philosophy.

DHIIRA’s Elementary Montessori curriculum is from Grades 1-5. At this point we have only offered it till Grade 3 and if there are parents who are interested in the work happening here, they can choose to stay on for the higher classes. Dhiira runs as a Homeschooling Program though for all other purposes such as school holidays, subjects offered, timings etc, it is just like a regular school.
